I am a 62 year old female quadriplegic. I took Southwest Airlines from Kansas City to Phoenix last year. I have flown about once a year all over the country with my job until I retired in 2012. So I know this wasn’t ordinary that when I went through security this one time I was told that they wanted to x-ray my air cushion. I was told that if I couldn’t get off of it that I wouldn’t be allowed to move on to my plane. I lifted up and they pulled the cushion out from under me. I had to proceed onto my plane and wait for my plane with no cushion under me. This could have created a pressure ulcer. Luckily, it didn’t. I felt this was entirely unnecessary.
